At the forefront of Europe’s strategic infrastructure investments stands the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), a cornerstone program dedicated to fueling growth, fostering job creation, and bolstering competitiveness across the continent. With its tripartite focus on CEF Energy, CEF Transport, and CEF Digital, the initiative signals a robust commitment to fortifying Europe’s connectivity and resilience.
Within the realm of CEF Transport, a significant budget of €25,81 billion has been allocated for the 2021-2027 period, with a notable €11,29 billion designated for countries eligible for support from the Cohesion Fund. Noteworthy attention is given to enhancing military mobility, with €1,69 billion allocated to ensuring infrastructure adaptability for both civilian and military purposes.
Aligned with the overarching objectives of the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, CEF Transport prioritizes the development of the “core” and “comprehensive” network delineated by the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), which has undergone recent revisions to better address contemporary needs and challenges.
In this context, linked to the program, recently were held the “Connecting Europe Days”, a pivotal forum for stakeholders to converge, exchange insights, and strategize on tangible measures aimed at realizing a sustainable, intelligent, and resilient transport and mobility network. The event took place from 2nd to 5th April, with over 2,500 participants from EU Member States and neighboring countries in attendance. It fostered discussions on key themes such as the introduction of new European Transport Corridors, climate resilience, connectivity with neighboring regions, and financing avenues for infrastructure endeavors.
The participation of Gruber Logistics at the Connecting Europe Days underscores the indispensable role of private sector engagement in shaping Europe’s transportation landscape. As one of only two logistics entities in Europe to receive an invitation as speaker, Gruber Logistics brings invaluable perspectives and expertise to the table, enriching dialogues on infrastructure innovation, development, and sustainability.
As Europe faces up the intricacies of contemporary mobility and transportation challenges, initiatives like the Connecting Europe Facility exemplify the continent’s unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and progress in infrastructure development. Through targeted investments and strategic collaborations, the CEF aims to propel Europe towards a future characterized by heightened connectivity, efficiency, and prosperity.
