The Elbe River is one of Germany’s most important inland waterways and plays a central role in transportation. After the partial collapse of the Carola Bridge in Dresden at the end of 2024, vessel traffic on this stretch was closed, but as of February 3, the affected stretch can be used again and, as of February 17, even without prior permission although traffic at the critical point in Dresden will initially be regulated with so-called timed one-way traffic, both upstream and downstream.

Gruber Logistics has achieved an important milestone: it was in fact the first European company to organize a transport when the previously closed section of this important waterway reopened. The double convoy consisting of a motorized cargo ship and a push barge transported, in addition to fertilizer, a 221-ton power plant generator from the Czech Republic to Belgium!
