Gruber Logistics completed the integration of Züst & Bachmeier Project GmbH into its corporate group at the beginning of 2025. Since the start of this year, the project cargo specialist has been operating under the name Gruber Logistics Project GmbH. This was the final step of the integration. With the acquisition of Universal Transport in autumn 2022, Züst & Bachmeier also became part of the Gruber Logistics Group. Since 1911, the company specializing in project cargo has been carrying out complex transports worldwide for its customers, combining different modes of transport for efficient handling.

The now finalized process of brand synchronization marks the conclusion of the integration project that began in 2022. Martin Gruber, CEO of Gruber Logistics, highlights the added value of the acquisitions of Universal Transport and thus also Züst & Bachmeier for his company: “The global expertise and know-how of Züst & Bachmeier Project expand our perspectives and open up new growth opportunities in a specialized segment of logistics.”

Customers of Gruber Logistics in the Project Cargo Solutions sector – under this new name, Züst & Bachmeier will be marketed externally – will continue to benefit from the proven structures: locations, contacts, and processes remain unchanged. The Nuremberg branch is managed by Andreas Wöhler, while Marcel Zare heads the Düsseldorf branch.

A central component of Gruber Logistics remains the multimodal transport approach. “We work with all modes of transport and offer a wide range of solutions. A good example of this is the terminal we operate in the inland port of Nuremberg, which allows us to handle project cargo via inland waterways,” says Andreas Wöhler, head of the Nuremberg branch. Since November 2024, 13 transformers, each weighing 197 tons, have been transported from Franconia via the waterway to Krefeld, with the end of the transport scheduled for March 2025. The final leg to the destination in Meerbusch will be by truck again. Gruber Logistics uses its own equipment for the final delivery and unloading.

Through the full integration of Züst & Bachmeier, customers gain direct access to the entire service portfolio of Gruber Logistics. This includes, in addition to heavy and oversized transports with its own equipment, full and partial loads, groupage services, air and sea freight products, project logistics, industrial installations, and so-called in-house engineering.

“Through our project cargo services, our customers benefit from optimized transport solutions along global logistics chains. The use of Gruber Logistics’ resources for the transport of oversized and heavy goods expands our operational capacities,” emphasizes Marcel Zare, head of the Düsseldorf branch.
